Winter Safari Camp
Age Range: 5-11
When school is out, Camp is in!
We are here to engage and excite your young learners ages 5-11 during Winter Break.
Safari Camp is a great opportunity to engage young explorers in learning about the wild world around them and beginning their journey of conservation stewardship. Through Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, STEAM-based projects, hands-on science activities, environmental games and more, campers learn about attainable strategies and goals to combat environmental issues and are charged with finding simple ways that they can make a difference.

Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Extended care available for $15/day from 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Must be purchased for whole Camp session; cannot be purchased for individual days.
THEMES: Each week campers embark on a different Zoo expedition, exploring wildlife and wild places. Young explorers will be immersed in hands-on, minds-on learning while having fun! 
December 30-January 3: – Mythical Creatures: History is full of stories of mythical animals that continue to capture the hearts and minds of people today. Join us as we investigate the power of storytelling and the human imagination, how it can help animals be loved and thrive, and how it can lead to conservation challenges for animals. Campers will explore the real animals that may have been muses for fabled beasts and end the week by sharing our very own mythical creature legends that help encourage mythical conservation action. It’s sure to be a magical experience!
January 6 – Prehistoric In(sect)igations: Years before our planet could host humans, it played home to some phenomenal insects. Campers will spend the day learning about how creepy-crawlies have grown (or more accurately, shrunk) over time. While we explore the changes in bug life over the years, we will look at what changes to our atmosphere and planet may have led insects to be what they are today. Campers will design a bug hotel to take home and place outdoors for modern-day pollinating insects in support of this vital part of our ecosystem.
February 17-21 – Eco Adventures: The world is full of amazing creatures who play vital roles in their environments, but many are losing their natural homes. Zoo Atlanta is committed to guiding conservation action both locally and globally, helping to alleviate environmental pressures. Join us as we learn about the Zoo’s conservation and sustainability initiatives; explore ways to be eco-friendly; and design bird stickers to protect our local, migratory birds.
