Rochester Yacht Club

The Laser race team will work on refining boat handling skills, tactics, and strategy. This team’s goal will be to travel to local and possibly national events around the country representing RYC. Sailors will be expected to have their own boat. Sailors will be expected to spend all day on the water with a dedicated race team coach!
Prerequisites: Coach approval and own boat
Cost: Non Member $315 weekly or $2100 season
Member $265 weekly or $1750 season

remember to bring. If there are any questions, please contact the Junior Sail

• Life Jacket‐ Ensure that it is the correct size and comfortable fit. Must be
US Coast Guard approved. Life Jackets are worn at all times while sailing or in a
• Closed‐toe shoes‐ should be worn at all times, even when sailing, so they
must be able to get wet. Good examples include: sailing boots, water shoes, old
tennis shoes, crocs… etc.
• Lunch (For all-day sailors). We have big coolers and a refrigerator for
lunches if they are not in a cooler bag. Please make sure that they are not in
paper bags and that they are waterproofed with some kind of plastic Ziploc or
equivalent.
• Water Bottle (RYC has multiple water coolers to refill bottles)
• Hat
• Sunscreen
• Change of Clothes
• Towel
• Foul Weather Gear‐ we may sail in the rain or have spray over the side of
the boat. Foul Weather Gear helps keep us warm and dry!
• Sailing gloves

The Rochester Yacht Club offers a unique opportunity to the local community. We are home to Western New York’s largest summer sailing camp. RYC offers seven full weeks of class for ages 6-18, from our learn to sail programs, adventure sailing classes, to our race teams that travel around NYS and the Mid-Atlantic competing. All of our instructors are US Sailing Certified, they also have Heads Up Concussion training, Safe Sport, and are certified in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. We hope you will join us this summer for some fun in the sun and learn to sail at RYC. We look forward to seeing you on the water this summer!
